Abstract

Introduction

This presentation will give a history of our clinical collaboration with the surgical team and the development of our rehabilitation experience. It will focus on our growing cohort of trans-humeral amputees who are pursuing optimal function through novel surgeries.

During the presentation case studies of varying complexities will be discussed, as will some of the exceptional functional outcomes that have been achieved. It will additionally look at some of the more challenging presentations of patients who we are working with and who we are assisting in their rehabilitation.

It will present some of the core lessons that we have learned during our ongoing journey to perfect the rehabilitation process.

Conclusion

The presentation will highlight the current positive and negative realities of a process that heavily depends on the intersection of prosthetic rehabilitation, surgical treatment, and technological advances.
